My family recently moved into the city of Chicago. It has been an easy transition from living on a university’s campus for the last three years. It’s nice to finally live in the city. Since moving to the city I have purchased a few lenses on Craigslist. I hope to be taking pictures more often.

I plan on using this blog to post various pictures, projects, and “snapshots” of my life. In some ways it will be a personal photo journal. I have in the past written a blog which has included previous pictures and projects that I have done. I will now be using this blog for that purpose, and it is my goal to update this at least once a week. We’ll see how that goes.

Recently I have been desiring to take better black and white pictures, and I have been attempted to take more black and white pictures. I will be posting those pictures here from time to time.

The above picture is a local coffee shop that I go to frequently. It’s called the Grind Cafe. It’s what you might think of when you think of a local independent coffee shop. It’s an old building with 8×10 photos tacked to the brick walls from someone who wrote his PhD dissertation there. It’s small with cramped seating, but it’s got character. It’s not Starbucks. They also make incredible sandwiches and smoothies.

It’s where I go when my wife has the day off (I’m a stay-at-home dad), so it’s where I do a lot of my photo editing. So thanks for stopping by my blog. I hope to post here regularly.
